WINDOW SHOPPING
C.2002 Oxford, UK. Taken while I was working at an independent photography shop on the High Street.
I've always been fascinated with images of real people, lost in thought. I would notice people spending time staring at the cameras in the window, contemplating, debating, fantasising.
Part of my role was to display the second-hand cameras in the window. One day I loaded a film in a camera and attached a long shutter release. I spend the next hour snapping the people I saw.

I've pondered the ethical implications of this project. Because these were taken from a street-facing shopfront, I feel on balance that street photography rules (roughly) apply. The images are fairly old, and perhaps of general historical interest. Viewers, and the subjects, might want to get in touch with their views.
