The Cry - 100% organic cotton oversized sweatshirt
You Have Been Here and These Things Remember You.
This sweatshirt is s part of a series, ‘You Have Been Here and These Things Remember You,’ wearable art from my found photography collection. The name comes from a page in a 1930s photo album which I found in a small town in Colerado many years ago. The pages each had a line of typewriter written text at the bottom and this line stopped me in my tracks - it encompassed everything I felt about found photography.
A big part of my collection is found photographs of real emotions. images of people crying are the rarest and yet it’s something we all experience, every single one of us cries. Its something we hide, it’s something we might feel shame or embarrassed for. The cry challenges this, normalises this, brings it into the open.
I believe art should be everywhere, not always housed in a special building or only seen for a certain time. Thats why I'm releasing a collection of wearable art. By investing in them you'll be helping to fund my arts practice and allow me to curate more of my collection, and realise the projects which I have in the wings just waiting for the funding to make them happen. Thank you.
• 100% organic combed ring-spun cotton. (GOTS)
